: A market square awareness campaign

Awareness Campaigns

Market squares are meeting places for people in the region. Men, women and youngsters get information here and become multiplicators, who pass on their knowledge to others in their villages.

Awareness campaigns have so far taken place at 10 major markets, educating more than 3,800 people about oral and dental hygiene. These educated people then pass on their knowledge to an estimated group of 100 people, hence spreading the news about how to prevent Noma among the population.

In 2010, the Hilfsaktion organized training workshops in all regions and at all levels. Additionally, all imams and village chiefs in Dosso, Tillabery and Niamey regions were educated about Noma.
