Impfstation 1In Birni N’Konni in Niger’s Tahoua region, the Hilfsaktion opened the first vaccination center in January 2006. More than 51,000 vaccinations have been administered since then at both at the station and via mobile vaccination drives in villages. This way, children’s immune systems can be strengthened, reducing the risk that they will fall prey to noma.

In 2007, the Hilfsaktion also began to treat extremely malnourished children to prevent them from getting noma.

PräventionAltogether, more than 83,000 children have been brought back to a normal weight and therefore did not have to suffer from noma.
